Graduation System

In the grading system, the cordas are given through batizado (baptism), and exams annually. In Salvador, the Batizado is made ​​collectively with the participation of all the academies of the Group all around the world in December as directed by the Mestre.


The Grupo Topázio Arizona directed by Instructor Kino, follows the lineaments of graduation established by the Group Topázio international based in Salvador, Bahia.

In Group Topázio, the beginner student enters without any cord and only after learning the basic moves and begin to develop within the Capoeira, the student is ready to be tested and receive their first cord, usually over a period of not less than three months.
 

The graduation system adopted by the Grupo Topázio worldwide is as follows:

The ORIXAS represent the saints from the Brazilian religiosity, they are born from the role of the four elements: water, earth, air and fire, each orixa the power to handle each of the elements and natural phenomena. Each orixa has their tool and is known for his temper and having a color that represents it. Our graduation is identified and symbolized by some cult orixas and so are:

GREEN CORD: Represents OXOSSE, god of hunting and hunters. In this graduation, the student is released in the hunt of his virtues and skill, for his development in the world of capoeira.

​

GREEN-YELLOW CORD: The union of OXOSSE and OXUM. The orixa of the jungle meets the water purity represented by OXUM. In this graduation, the student begins to feel a need to improve and overcome his obstacles.

​

YELLOW CORD: Represents OXUM orixa of all their wealth and gold. She is the goddess of fertility and the protector of the fetus to grow. In this graduation the student begins to deeper work which is already suitable.

​

YELLOW-BLUE CORD:  OXUM and OGUM come together to show the strength and wealth in the world of capoeira. In this graduation, the student begins to show the fruits of training incurred. In the yellow cord was not yet eligible for a more severe training, but now it is more competent.

BLUE CORD: Represent OGUM, strong and intelligent, and a great warrior (god of war and weapons). This graduation symbolizes all the groundwork by which the capoeirista has passed. In this new stage needs to be a capoeirista exemplary and worthy of their actions in and out of the Roda. Now he is formed in capoeira.

RED CORD: Represents IANSA. Dominate the fire, storm and justice. At this stage, the capoeirista acquires knowledge of responsability growing in humbleness in the world of capoeira to obtain the Professor graduation with wisdom.

WHITE-GREEN CORD: OXOSSE meets OXALA. The capoeirista enters the world of education in the pursuit of wisdom of the leader. In this range, the capoeirista shows all the groundwork for which has passed.

WHITE-YELLOW CORD: OXUM meets OXALA. In this range, the capoeirista seeks to develop his full potential, in the sense of maintaining the group's ideas, acquiring humility, wisdom, loyalty and honesty with Mestre and the Group.

WHITE-BLUE CORD: OXALA meets OGUM Resulting in a Peacefull Warrior. The capoeirista is finding spiritual peace, in the search of the world of Mestres.

​

WHITE-RED CORD: Represent the orisha of XANGO. Orixa Is that called the fire element and divine justice. It is in this graduation "Mestre", the capoeirista shows its full spiritual peace, developing his full potential, being fair and loyal with capoeira. For that, he has to decide with certainty and honesty, and above all, with wisdom and impartiality.
